about the founder
Hi, I’m Kayla — the face behind skinduc8.
welcome to my world
A creative studio built from lived experience inside the beauty and wellness industry, designed to help businesses feel more intentional, sustainable, and supported behind the scenes.
this studio was built from both passion and pivoting.
I'm a qualified beauty therapist with over seven years of industry and customer service experience across spa, retail, and client-focused roles.
I graduated in 2019 and entered the industry right as COVID hit, literally two weeks later. Like many businesses at the time, the spa I was working in suddenly had to rethink everything.
Closures forced our team to pivot quickly and creatively, finding ways to continue supporting clients, educating people online, and creating connection from a distance.
That season taught me far more than treatment protocols ever could.
It developed my ability to take initiative, think creatively under pressure, and recognise the importance of systems, communication, adaptability, and client experience in building resilient businesses.
When the beauty industry reopened, many of us returned to fully booked days and physically demanding schedules. Eight-hour days of back-to-back massage treatments quickly became the norm.
Being genetically blessed with hypermobile joints, the physical strain on my body became difficult to ignore.
Stepping back from spa services was emotional because I had entered this industry with such a strong desire to create change, support people, and educate clients in a meaningful way.
For a while, I questioned what longevity in this industry could realistically look like for me.
That experience ultimately became the catalyst for Skinduc8.
Because I realised there were so many ways to support this industry beyond physically performing treatments.
the industry I loved also pushed me to rethink longevity.
from treatment rooms to systems, strategy, and support.
After taking time away from hands-on spa work, I explored roles across customer service, retail, and operational environments which deepened my understanding of communication, organisation, systems, and business functionality.
Eventually, I returned to the wellness industry to work alongside one of my biggest mentors, helping support and grow her business into the thriving wellness brand it is today.
Through that experience, I became deeply involved in the operational and creative side of business:
systems and platforms
Over seven years working inside beauty and wellness businesses, I've built hands-on experience across the tools and platforms these industries actually run on, from booking systems and point of sale through to content, email and operations.
booking and operations
creative and marketing
And the countless moving parts that shape how a business actually feels to run day-to-day. Now, I'm taking those skills and using them to support other beauty and wellness businesses too.
outside of work…
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me adventuring with my best friend Sherman, my very unofficial but highly involved business advisor.
I'm also probably somewhere surrounded by books from my ever-growing collection, enjoying something delicious my partner has cooked, or working on another creative project simply because I love making things.
At home, life is made significantly better by our rescue cat Mito, who believes all things are wonderful and holds such an edge of curiosity I will always admire.
